     monkey, giraffe, cat, snake, ... are words for animals.

Countable and Uncountable Nouns PDF Print E-mail

Some nouns CAN be counted and some nouns CANNOT.  Countable nouns can be singular or plural.  Many countable nouns are concreate: shoe(s), house(s).  But some are abstract: idea(s), situation(s), dream(s).  Many uncountable nouns are abstract: beauty, love.  But some are concrete: plastic, butter.
