Many parents want to help their child or children learn English. Here are some suggestions for what you can do.
-
Find out what your child needs for class and make sure that your child has it (for example, pencils, pens, books, notebook, a folder for keeping bits of paper).
-
Help your child to study well. Make sure your child has a quiet place to work and study; help your child to learn how to use dictionaries, reference books and the internet; and show your child how to keep schoolwork and store papers. Your child may get a lot of photocopied sheets from English class - they should keep these in a separate folder.
-
Be interested in your child's studies. Ask your child to show you what they have done in English class (perhaps they could teach you one or two words after each class!); review the work that they have done; check if they have any homework to do, and help them with it if necessary.
